Hey there!
I want to know that if someone does an IMT for 3 years and then opts for a group 1 speciality eg. Infectious diseases. By the end of his training, will he be an infectious diseases specialist only or will he have double specialisations in internal medicine+ infectious diseases?
Please respond.
Thanks in advance

Hello @NafeesAhmad,
Higher training in ID can be done in several flavours.
- If you do it with IMT stage 1 training (3 years) and then ID with IMT Stage 2 training (combined 4 years) - you are looking at dual accreditation in ID and General Medicine.
- If you do it with IMT stage 1 training (2 years) and then ID with Medical Microbiology/Virology - you are also looking at dual accreditation in ID and microbiology/virology.
