Road to uk from Colombia

I graduated in 2020, and then I worked for 12 months in my obligatory social services year (a requirement for obtaining my medical license in Colombia). After that, I worked for 11 months in an emergency department, and I am still working in the same place for another year (I hope).

My question is whether I can enter UK Specialty Training without any NHS experience or if it’s better to gain some experience within the NHS.

I’m interested in orthopedic surgery.

Hi Camila! Thanks for posting your question.

You should be able to join for sure. However, you will need to get your competencies signed off i.e have your CREST form signed that allows you to apply for training posts. You would also need to pass MRCS A at the very least.
